Rep. Robert J. Wittman will get a fundraising boost in his re-election bid later this month from Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown.
Brown, a Republican, won the U.S. Senate seat of the late Edward Kennedy, the liberal icon who tirelessly pushed for health care reform, in a January special election. He was the first Republican elected to the U.S. Senate in that state since 1972.
Brown will headline a fundraiser for Wittman, R-1st, on July 30 in Newport News. Wittman, a marine scientist who was first elected to Congress in 2007, is running against Democrat Krystal Ball of Stafford County and Glenda Gail Parker in the Nov. 2 election.
Brown, who traveled with Wittman to Afghanistan to visit the troops, said Wittman is “dedicated to reigning in the out of control government spending in Washington, supporting small businesses and encouraging job creation.”
