McDonnell returns to White House to party

Good luck getting on the governor’s schedule tomorrow. He’s booked.

Gov. Bob McDonnell is starting his day touting a rest stop in Dinwiddie and ending with a St. Patrick’s Day bash at the White House.

In between the ribbon cutting ceremony at the rest stop—one of eight opening on Wednesday—McDonnell will hold a bill signing ceremony at the University of Virginia for his legislation establishing college partnership laboratory schools. Before he leaves UVA, he will speak to Larry Sabato’s Introduction to Politics class.

Then he’ll head north for the St. Patrick’s Day party at the White House, which, according to Lynn Sweet’s coverage of last year’s event for the Chicago Sun-Times, has a ginormous guest list.

Then-Gov. Tim Kaine, now Democratic National Committee chairman, was among last year’s invitees, as was former Lt. Gov. Don Beyer, now ambassador to Switzerland.

McDonnell wraps up his day with the Radio and TV Correspondents Dinner in Washington, DC.
