Watkins Landing is a popular put-in for boaters in Central Virginia. This is from the VDGIF.

Watkins Landing Closes for Improvements:

The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries has closed Watkins Public Boat Landing in Powhatan County for repairs and improvements. The Landing will be closed through November and December to rework the approach ramp, side slopes, pier and parking area. The Landing will reopen upon completion of the improvements, scheduled for January 2009.

Boating access on the James River in this area is available at Beaumont Public Boat Landing on Route 522 in Powhatan County and at West View Public Boat Landing on Route 643 in Goochland County.
