Well, that was fun

The Rams trailed 70-59 with 1:39 to play, but found their long-distance range and fell just one 3-pointer short of forcing overtime against UAB in the NIT first round.
Eric Maynor’s final shot clanged off the side of the rim, and the buzzer sounded to end VCU’s season. Maynor was the man in the second half, totaling 20 points, six assists and two steals in the final 20 minutes. Fourteen of those points came in the final 5:52.
UAB escapes, and now the attention turns to Anthony Grant’s future at VCU. Press-row wags were estimating how long it would take for LSU to pick up the phone and make the call.
I guess we’ll find out soon.
