UAB senior Frank Holmes was whistled for a technical foul at the 14:02 mark for shoving VCU’s Kirill Pishchalnikov. Jamal Shuler hit both FTs to put VCU up 15-11. It’s now 17-11, and UAB coach Mike Davis called a time out.
UAB had led 8-4 on a basket by Reggie Huffman at the 16:42 mark, but VCU has gone on a 13-3 run since then.
It’s a very quick-paced game, a nice departure from most of the CAA teams which ran slow-down schemes.
Side note: Even when I get away from racing, I can’t get away from Jeremy Mayfield. The UAB version just scored to make it 17-13 with 12:04 to play.
