      Joey Rodriguez had 17 points, four steals and two assists as the Rams put four players in double figures and won easily in the debut of coach Shaka Smart.

      Larry Sanders added 12 points and six rebounds. Jay Gavin had 12 points – nine in the second half—and Bradford Burgess added 10.

      VCU hit 11 of 24 3-pointers. Rodriguez was 3 of 6 and Gavin 3 of 5. The Rams were 20 for 27 from the foul line.
