Update on JMU quarterback Justin Thorpe
Tim Pearrell
Sep 04, 2010

JMU coach Mickey Matthews said backup quarterback Justin Thorpe (Varina High) hyperextended his left knee on a carry 33 seconds before halftime in the Duke’s 48-7 victory over Morehead State.

Thorpe, who spent the second half on the sideline on crutches, will miss next week’s game against Virginia Tech but is expected to return after an off week.

Matthews played starter Drew Dudzik (8 of 15, 189 yards, two TDs, one interception) the entire second half because Matthews wants to redshirt true freshman quarterback Jace Edwards. Matthews said he wasn’t sure what he would do next week for a backup QB.
