Eric Kolenich
Apr 22, 2009

According to Techsideline.com, Mark Shuman, a 6-6, 270 lb. Fork Union Military Academy offensive takle, has committed to Virginia Tech.

A three-star prospect on Scout.com, Shuman, a junior, had 18 offers, including California, Duke, Georgia, UNC, N.C. State, Notre Dame, Rutgers, South Carolina, Stanford, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.

Considered one of the top offensive linemen in the state, Shuman first visited Tech at the beginning of March. Latrell Scott, an assistant coach at Virginia, used to babysit Shuman as a child and began his coaching career at FUMA. According to the Roanoke Times, breaking the news to Scott was a “major hurdle.”

Shuman is the brother of Tech senior Ryan Shuman.
