VCU athletic director Norwood Teague talked to Navy head coach Billy Lange Monday after receiving permission from Navy athletic director Chet Gladchuk.

Teague interviewed Texas assistant coach Russell Springmann and Florida assistant coach Shaka Smart on Saturday. Sometime Tuesday, Teague plans to meet with VCU assistant coach Tony Pujol.
         
          After that, Teague will try to nail down his choice as Anthony Grant’s successor. He still hopes to have the new coach in place by Thursday.
          Teague had Auburn coach Jeff Lebo on his list of potential candidates. At this point, though, Teague said he does not plan to ask permission to talk to Lebo, who has a hefty mutual buyout with the Tigers.
