State Parks series

Today’s column about Douthat SP is the second in a series. I’m going to one state park a month in 2008 and reporting back (in column and blog form) about the place: what I did, what was fun, what wasn’t. I visited Pocahontas in January and will be heading down to False Cape SP later this month. Here’s a list of where I’m going and when:
April: Grayson Highlands
May: Westmoreland
June: Natural Tunnel
July: Bear Creek Lake
August: Sky Meadows
September: New River Trail
October: Kiptopeke
November: First Landing
December: James River
I’ll also be squeezing in a trip to Occoneechee at some point during the year. When is still TBD. Send me a comment with any suggestions you might have for what to dol, what’s fun, what’s a must-see at each place.
Next entry: Postgame: Towson 81, Hofstra 66

Andy, I think it’s great you are doing a tour of the state parks of VA. i think they are some of the best in the country. I have been to several of VA’s state parks (and I enjoyed them all), but I am really looking forward to hearing about the parks I haven’t been to.
You did a great article on Douthat (that’s one i have been to before) and I look forward to more.
Keep up the good work.
