Some quick notes from Frank Beamer’s Monday teleconference

Some of this will appear in a notebook in tomorrow’s paper, but here is the quick-hit version ...
- Beamer declined to give an update on cornerback Victor “Macho” Harris (sprained left foot) or right tackle Blake DeChristopher (bruised right thigh). He said that, per the new ACC guideline, their status for Saturday wouldn’t be announced until Thursday.
- On the offense—“There were just several plays that were about one block away. We’ve just got to get a little bit better, one block better, break one tackle here and there, and we’ve got some long plays going.“
- On the play calling—“When you look back at it, you can always say, ‘You should have done this or you should have done that.‘ You’ve got to call it before you know what’s going to happen.“
- Beamer said Dustin Keys is still his kicker despite missing his only field-goal attempt Saturday, a 44-yarder, and an extra point.
- Did Beamer consider pulling Sean Glennon in favor of Tyrod Taylor? “We didn’t consider that. Really, Sean, other than a couple plays, played very well.“
- Would there be any situation besides an injury to Glennon that would cause the coaches to play Taylor? “I’ll talk about those things on Tuesday [at his press conference]. If there’s anything to talk about, I’ll talk about that at tomorrow’s press conference.“
- On the blocked punt at the end of the game—“I think the guy got a heck of a jump. Whether he’s offsides or not, it’s very, very close. The guy did a good job, good effort by him, but it really wasn’t anything that should have been hard to protect. We’ve been in that [zone] protection a bunch in preseason and ran something very similar to that a bunch of time, really. I think it was a missed technique, not a missed assignment.“
- On the offensive line—“Our blocking up front was better than last year at this time. I think we made progress there. You don’t like to keep changing those guys up. We were close several times to popping it for a long gainer.“
- On true freshman receiver Dyrell Roberts, who had just one catch on Saturday, a 62-yarder—“I think he’s a talented guy. I think he does things very naturally. I think he’ll become more and more a part of our offense. It’s tough for a true freshman to run out there and get things done like he did. I think there’s no question he needs to be more and more a part of this offense.“
- On true freshman tailback Ryan Williams, who did not play on Saturday—“We still plan to play him.“
- On whether he’s considered making a change at offensive coordinator—“No, no. I think you make those evaluations at the end of the year. I know people are disappointed. We’re disappointed. There’s no question about that. I thought we did some things very well on Saturday. We’ve just got to get more consistent as a football team.“

Come on Frank, Sean did not play well and everyone that watched that games knows it. Not to mention his continuously poor demeanor after every series is tiresome and if it continues it he will lose the little respect this team has for him. He was late on multiple throws, the first of which was picked because a poorly thrown ball. Dyrell Roberts has to be on the field at least 50% of the offensive plays and given at least 5 to 8 looks a game. If we are unable to stretch the field defenses will put 8 in the box and blitzes two every time to stop our run game. If Sean plays like that again, and he will, let’s go with Holt and see what happens, sense the staff is determined to Red Shirt Tyrod.
