So that’s what 130 mph feels like

After three and a half years, I finally got my chance at a ride-along at Richmond International Raceway. And let me tell you, I have a whole new respect for the drivers. I only did three laps, and I wasn’t even in a real firesuit. Plus it was only about the mid-70s today.
But every time I went around the turns in that Richard Petty Driving Experience stock car, I was tossed to the outside. I couldn’t imagine the focus it would take to do that 400 times, plus stay on the same line and remember your marks. I was going to lose my mind just riding around, alone, for three laps.
It was fun. Don’t get me wrong. But I don’t want their job.
The line of the day, however, at RIR was that tickets are still available for the races. Both the newly-named Lipton Tea 250 Nationwide race on Friday night and the Dan Lowry 400 on Saturday. Contact RIR to buy tickets.
