So I was working on my “How does Hendrick Motorsports live up to expectations” story for our preseason section (When is that, you ask? Why, it’s Feb. 10! One week from today!) the other day. I had a great quote from Rick Hendrick, but I couldn’t use it for obvious reasons.

“I kind of compare ourselves to the Patriots a little bit. We had such an early lead, but then everybody starts watching you and if people watch enough game film, they figure out how to play you. If they figure out how to play you, they make it closer. Finally, you get beat.“

Since my story had to be in before the Super Bowl, and it would have taken too much work to take it out or add it in, I just didn’t use it. But with 10:59 to play in the Super Bowl, Hendrick is looking like a genius.

I hope he put some money on the game.
