Redskins take an offensive lineman

The Redskins began the second day of the draft by making a trade, giving their fourth-round pick, No. 103 overall, to Tennessee for the Titans 4th-round choice, No. 124 and fifth-round choice, No. 157. The Redskins wanted to replace the fifth-round pick they gave to Atlanta on the first-day of the draft.
With their third-round pick, the Redskins took an offensive lineman, Chad Rinehart, an offensive lineman from Northern Iowa. Rinehart has size, 6-5, 311, and might be versatile enough to play guard and tackle. But any time a lineman from a Division I-AA, also known as the football championship subdivision, school comes into the NFL, he has to show he can contend with the much higher level of competition.
However, the Redskins needed to address depth on the offensive line. They also need to get younger there. They have no starters who are under 30 years of age. Offensive linemen can play well into their 30s. The Redskins problem is that Jon Jansen and Randy Thomas missed the 2007 season with injuries. It was the second time in the past four seasons that Jansen or Thomas had suffered a season-ending injury.
Joe Bugel, the Redskins offensive line coach, does a good job developing players, provided those players have enough talent to be developed.
