Quarterback conspiracy theory—well, sort of

It’s not exactly Nixon and Watergate stuff, gang, but an interesting subplot to the news popped up today when I was talking with Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post, a good friend and former Tech beat writer who will soon be on his way to the Boston Globe to cover the Red Sox.
Why, we both wondered, would Tech schedule Sean Glennon to appear at today’s media gathering (and he is scheduled to appear) if he wasn’t going to have some significant role in the quarterback annoucement? You’d think that if head coach Frank Beamer was picking Taylor over Glennon outright, he wouldn’t want Glennon talking to the media—not after he vented his displeasure to reporters last season when he was demoted.
Taylor is not scheduled to appear today because he has class, according to a team spokesman.
I’m sticking with my gut on this one: Beamer will pick Glennon.
Press conference starts around 1. More later.
