Billy Morris held off a hard-charging Thomas Stinson to win the first 50-lap Modified race tonight at Southside Speedway.
Morris had a lead nearly the length of the straightaway until a caution on Lap 33 closed Chris Johnson and Stinson to Morris’ rear bumper. Johnson went out of the race on Lap 43 when he cut down a tire and hit the wall hard on the backstretch.
Morris and Stinson battled hard, but cleanly, the rest of the way with Stinson working his way to the outside on the final turn. But Morris held the inside line and picked up his first Modified win of the season.
Grand Stocks are running now.
