McCray narrowing his options
Eric Kolenich
May 24, 2009

Brookville junior Zach McCray is inching towards the end of his recruitment process. The 6-5, 235-lb defensive end told Sporting News Today that he is beginning to trim his offers to a list of finalists.

A lot of talk has centered around the possibility of McCray following former teammate Logan Thomas to Virginia Tech, where Thomas committed this year as a member of the class of 2009. But Thomas reportedly hasn’t been recruiting McCray or putting much pressure on him to sign in Blacksburg.

McCray said he hopes to narrow his list to 5 to 7 finalists. He named LSU, Virginia Tech, UCLA and North Carolina as four schools that had a good chance of getting on that list.

He hasn’t visited UCLA or LSU yet, so he’s hoping to see both during summer break.

The Sporting News ranks McCray as the 16th best player nationally in the class of 2010. Rivals ranks him at No. 95 and Scout at No. 50.
