Quarterback Rodney Landers passed for 212 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 145 more to lead top-ranked James Madison over No. 12 William and Mary 48-24 today in Harrisonburg.
The victory clinched at least a share of the Colonial Athletic Association championship, as well as the league’s automatic berth in the NCAA playoffs, with one regular-season game left.
Landers accounted for 357 yards of offense in guiding JMU (7-0, 9-1) to its ninth consecutive victory. Tailback Eugene Holloman added 130 yards rushing on 23 attempts and two TDs.
W&M quarterback Jake Phillips was 16 of 30 for 187 yards and two TDs, but tailback Jonathan Grimes was held to 48 yards on nine carries. The Tribe fell to 5-2, 7-3 and out of contention for the CAA title.
