Matthew Diederich, the Torrance first baseman who was taken to the hospital last night with a possible neck injury, will not play for the rest of the Bronco-11 World Series.
Diederich was released from the hospital last night with only a sprain. But division director Tom O’Connor decided that Diederich could not play without the approval of a doctor. Apparently, the radiologist who examined Diederich last night did not make a decision as to whether or not Diederich was fit to play today.
So Diederich went back to the hospital and the doctor determined that Diederich needed a CT scan and was not fit to play.
“Its all for the safety and welfare of the player,” O’Connor said.
