Hokies update
John O'Connor
Mar 10, 2007

TAMPA, Fla. - When it happens twice, it’s not an upset.

That’s why Virginia Tech is highly concerned with N.C. State today in the ACC tournament semifinals, tough the Hokies are seeded No. 3 and the Wolfpack checked in at No. 10. N.C. State beat Tech 70-59 on Jan. 31 in Blacksburg, where the Wolfpack shot 53.1 percent. In Raleigh, N.C., on Feb. 18, State shot 66.7 percent in an 81-56 victory.

Tech coach Seth Greenberg said after Friday night’s quarterfinal win over Wake Forest that he believes the Wolfpack is the league’s finest passing team, and that starts with point guard Engin Atsur. Tech has struggled to contain 6-9 sophomore Ben McAuley, who hit 10 of 14 shots in the first meeting and 6 of 10 in the second. The post defense of Hokies senior Coleman Collins will be key, as it was in Friday night’s win over Wake and its senior center, Kyle Visser.
