Virginia Tech senior center Coleman Collins reached double-figures since Jan. 28 when he scored 15 in the Hokies’ win over Miami last Saturday.
“It felt good. It’s been a long time since I had double-figures. Shots were falling. I was getting open, and I made a few aggressive moves, and our team got me the ball.” Collins said.
He scored 10 in the first 15 minutes, helping Tech to a 20-win season and a bye in the first round of the ACC tournament.
“We’ve gotten the bye before, came out flat in that first [tournament] game and got beat,” Collins said. “So we know the bye doesn’t automatically mean we’re going to win. On one hand, we’re happy, but at the same time, we want to make sure we solidify our standing.”
Two years ago, Tech had a first-round bye in the ACC tournament and then, in its first game. lost to Georgia Tech.
