Hall of Fame

In Charlotte for the ACC tournament (Jeff Burton is rootin’ hard for his Blue Devils), I strolled along South Brevard Street and saw a big hole in the ground across from the city’s convention center—not to mention cranes, earth movers and lots of hard hats.  An office tower is rising on the other side of the construction site and work will begin soon on NASCAR’s Hall of Fame building, scheduled to open in early 2010.  Charlotte outbid and outlobbied Atlanta, Daytona Beach, Kansas City and, yes, our town for the Hall of Fame.  First the Hall of Fame, then the R-Braves.  We can’t catch a break.
