More fallout from running back Darren Evans tearing his left anterior cruciate ligament last night ...

Freshman Tony Gregory, who enrolled in January, has been moved from wide receiver to running back. Gregory has some serious speed, having run the 40-yard dash in 4.33 seconds during winter testing—the third-fastest time on the team.

After finishing at First Colonial High in Virginia Beach last spring, he spent last fall at Fork Union Military Academy. During spring practices at Tech, he began as a receiver, then moved to tailback for the final week of practices. Gregory moved back to receiver this preseason. He played running back in high school, when he ran for 641 yards as a senior and 979 (7 per carry) as a junior.

Depth needed in the backfield after Darren Evans’ injury.
