Fit to be tied in the CAA?

Looking at the seedings for the CAA tournament and the race for the first-round byes that go to the top four finishers:
First, the current standings:
Northeastern 12-2
ODU 11-3
George Mason 11-3
VCU 9-5
Drexel 9-5
William and Mary 9-5
While it’s still too early to get a definitive read, it seems the highest seed VCU can attain for the Colonial Athletic Association tournament is third or fourth, and the Rams likely need to steer clear of ties to get one of those coveted spots because they probably will have unfavorable tiebreaker scenarios. VCU is 2-5 against the other teams with winning conference records.
The top two seeds are pretty much out. The Rams are effectively four games behind Northeastern with four conference games to play because Northeastern beat VCU twice and owns the tiebreaker. The Rams are two games behind George Mason and Old Dominion, but they’re really three behind Mason because Mason beat VCU in their only meeting and thus owns the tiebreaker.
The tiebreaking procedures for two tied teams are a) head to head first, then b) record against the top team in the standings. If that doesn’t break it, you continue down to your record against the second-place team, third-place team, etc.
In a three-way tie, the tiebreaking process is a) each team’s combined head-to-head record among the tied teams, then b) same as above, until one team gains an advantage. (There are more provisions in case that doesn’t break the tie.)
VCU has beaten ODU and can gain the tiebreaker advantage by winning in Norfolk in the regular-season finale on Feb. 27. The Rams have split with William and Mary and at best can split with Drexel.
If Northeastern finishes first, VCU would lose a tiebreaker with Drexel. The Rams are 0-2 vs. Northeastern; Drexel is 2-0 vs. Northeastern.
William and Mary plays Northeastern for the only time Saturday. If William and Mary wins that one, it would have the tiebreaker advantage over VCU.
VCU’s best tiebreaking scenario involves ODU as the comparison team. The Rams at worst will finish 1-1 against the Monarchs. William and Mary is 0-2 against ODU, Drexel 0-1.
