If you like to drive to the Outer Banks, and on some of the beaches of the Outer Banks, to fish—many Virginians do—this is good news.

This is good news, but like the Supreme Court finding in favor of gun rights, it is not the end of the fight. The Consent Decree still needs to be removed by enacting legislation now in Congress. Senate bill 3113 and House bill 6233 will place control of the Cape Hatteras Recreation Area (OBX) back in the hands of the Parks Department and reinstate the interim rules concerning beach driving. Even that won’t be the end, we then need to force the committee working on the permanent rules to actually make progress and the road block to that is the Defenders of Wildlife and Southern Law Center that brought the lawsuit closing down beach driving to begin with.
