Finally, some good action

Another nice game so far for Florida State guard Jason Rich. He’s got 11 points at the half, on 5-of-9 shooting, and the Seminoles trail North Carolina 35-28. This poses an interesting scenario for Virginia Tech. If the Hokies beat Miami today and Florida State beats Carolina (I know, this is assuming a lot), would a win over Miami and a win over Florida State be enough to get Tech into the NCAA tournament? Of course, those two wins would put Tech in the ACC title game, with an automatic NCAA bid on the line.

Lots of things have to sort themselves out over the next few days, especially with all the bubble teams losing yesterday. But one thing is certain: I’m grateful to finally be watching a good basketball game.

Lynchburg News and Advance scribe Andy Bitter wanted to make a couple corrections on my post about his band exploits. It was not Singletary who almost plowed into him but rather, Calvin Baker and a Georgia Tech player. Bitter emerged from the collision with only a small scrape on his right elbow.

Part of me was sad to see Greivis Vasquez get bounced last night. The guy is a showman of the highest order. But as you can see here, Richmond native Bambale Osby stepped into Vasquez’s role last night as the Turtles’ best quote.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Vasquez’s brash persona, let’s just say he’s the Pete Weber of the ACC ...
