Beach-access settlement

Here it is, at long last, a beach-access settlement for the disputed portions of the Outer Banks. Scroll to the bottom of the article by Irene Nolan to see maps of the affected areas as well as the entire consent decree.

The whole thing is a complete travesty. No animal on the face of the earth needs that much room. Fact of life - baby animals and humans stray into areas that are dangerous for them. Will they close highway 12 next if a bird is killed on it? The night prohibition is ridiculous. Closing areas where turtle nests are is one thing the whole beach is not. I would support a new suit against the decree as it is unfair to all who live in the area and use the beach. .Fishing on these shores predates the court and the park service rendering both moot. All the “Defenders” of animals people have to do in order to close the whole beach is to keep violating the string fence areas until the automatic 50 meter increases in the area hit the high tide line – Ha Ha no more beach for you!
