A Cliff Note

I don’t know how Clemson’s Cliff Hammonds will do against Boston College, but the senior guard already has had a good night in my book. Prior to tipoff, he was presented with the ACC’s Skip Prosser Award and recognized as the league’s top scholar-athlete. The award is named for Wake Forest’s former coach, whose every senior graduated during the six seasons that preceded his death last summer, and Hammonds seems richly deserving of it. Married and the father of a young son, he carries an 11.7 scoring average and a career 3.21 GPA with a double major in architecture and psychology. Oh, and he leads the team in assists and grabs 4.2 rebounds per game, too. A pretty well-rounded guy, wouldn’t you say?
