8 p.m.—Aldo Andretti on the risk

Jun 28, 2008
Aldo Andretti knows racing has its risk. He has lot friends in the sport. He suffered serious burns himself. His brother, Mario, survived some terrifying crashes. His son, John Andretti, and nephew, Marco Andretti, are racing tonight.
“You know the risk is there,“ he said. “The apprehension is there. But the safety advances have changed racing. Now there is a much greater margin of error. For all of us who love the sport, and all of us who have family and friends who are racing, that is important. There was a time when there weren’t many second chances. That has changed.“
