8:30 p.m.—3rd caution flag
Randy Hallman
Jun 28, 2008

A.J. Foyt IV spun and hit the wall coming out of Turn Two. That’s 3 in the first 31 laps. Either things are going to settle down or my prediction is toast.

Only about 10 laps of green so far.

Back under green at about lap 40.

Danica Patrick was among those who pitted under the 3rd caution. the leaders stayed on the track. Not much of a night for her so far.

I think the Indy powers that be will take a hard look at this race. Maybe its a fluke and they won’t need to make big changes. Indy cars are always going to be flimsier than stock cars.

It is amazing to me how many cars are out of the race/being on the DOA list. It speaks loud for the forgiveness the COT offers the cup teams as well as their sponsors being able to keep their cars in the race. Do you think Indy will attempt to address their car’s fragile/fatal nature?

I’m having to listen to it on the radio. Mary Anna has the cable tied up with some movie. How is the crowd reacting to all these cautions?

8th caution already. Is the track too slick? Half the cars are gone. Glad they are okay! Graham Rehal just said his car was understeering. Sounds like some wrong set ups with some of them.

Bob, Great observations. I’m surprised at the disarray of these restarts. They’re not looking so good. We’ve now had 8 cautions, bypassing my prediction of 6 or fewer and we’re not halfway yet.

Danica is back near the front now—again because of the different pit sequences. Kanaan is behind her. So far there’s been no indication her car is fast enough to hold off his.

Yep. Kanaan and Castroneves when by in short order.

When she get next to him, lets see if she moves him up the hill. If so, she needs to climg up to Nascar.

If they put fenders on those things, at the lap speeds they turn, what a show it would be.

Wait till Danica gets near Scott Dixon.  Then the sparks might fly!

Should be a lively race. Great move to go to 300 laps if the
cautions say minimal.
