We’ll have to put that offseason talk on hold for a bit. Redskins executive VP Vinny Cerrato addressed the media today at Redskins Park. Highlights:

—He was noncommittal about any changes that might happen in the offseason, saying only that the team was in the very early stages of evaluating players. Similarly, he hadn’t decided what to do with the 13th pick in the draft, saying he didn’t know how deep the draft class would be or if the team would want to trade for more picks.

—His evaluation on coach Jim Zorn was that the coach had a “rookie” season, learning as he went and maturing. He added that the coach will be better off next year with a year under his belt. Asked if there was anything in particular that Zorn needed to work on, he said that “nothing glaring comes to mind.“

—Jason Campbell will continue to be quarterback into next season, though Cerrato wouldn’t commit to anything long-term, saying it would be evaluated on a year-by-year basis.

—This year’s draft class will be more productive in its second season. Cerrato cited receiver Roddy White in Atlanta as proof that receivers need more than one year to develop.

—Finally, he said the 8-8 season was not a success because the team didn’t make the playoffs. “I’d much prefer to be talking to you on the practice fields right now,“ he said.
