Burglary is reported after homicide in S. Richmond Burglary reported at Richmond home where man was found shot Twelve hours after someone was found shot to death at a house in South Richmond yesterday morning, police were called to the same address for a reported burglary. Homicide detectives and forensics technicians had completed their work at the house in the 600 block of Effingham Drive and left the scene by the time a neighbor called police at 1:10 p.m. to report a burglary. Officers who responded to the house, in a neighborhood just northeast of the intersection of Warwick and German School roads, were unable to find the alleged burglars, described as two men wearing white shirts and blue jeans, or their car, a blue Ford Taurus. Earlier, shortly after 12:30 a.m., police were dispatched to the one-story bungalow for a report of a person down. Richmond police spokeswoman Karla E. Peters said officers responding to that call discovered Timothy L. Johnson, 44, unresponsive inside. Johnson, who resided in the house, was declared dead at the scene. Sgt. Ron Brown said he was shot multiple times. Police are treating it as a homicide investigation. They said the slaying appears to be drug-related. |
