Two are arrested on murder charges
Henrico County police are crediting cooperation from residents at Essex Village apartments with the quick arrests of two men in the killing Sunday of Patrick C. Spearman. Held without bond on first-degree murder charges are Antonio Price, 18, of the 300 block of Engleside Drive in Essex Village and Leon Wesley Davis Jr., 20, of the 2500 block of Glenlea Avenue in Richmond’s Whitcomb Court public-housing complex. Spearman’s body was found shortly after 3:14 p.m. Sunday when police responded to a report of shots fired in the 300 block of Engleside Drive. He was found in the middle of the street and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities declined to say yesterday how he died. Spearman, 35, lived several miles away off Darbytown Road on Henrico Arms Street. Both suspects are being held in the Henrico jail and are expected to appear today in Henrico General District Court. Essex Village apartments and the surrounding neighborhood west of the Richmond Raceway Complex have drawn close scrutiny from Richmond and Henrico police because of several killings there in recent months. |
