Richmond homicide victim identified
Published: January 5, 2009 Richmond police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting last night in the city’s East End. David Earl Boyd Jr., 35, of the 1500 block of North 22nd Street became Richmond’s first homicide victim of 2009. Boyd was fatally shot on T Street between North 22nd and North 23rd streets about 10:30 p.m. Richmond Capt. Linda Samuel said authorities in Richmond and neighboring Henrico County were looking today for a black male, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with a medium build and wearing a black shirt and black jeans and a red scarf over his head. The man was last seen running from the homicide scene toward Mechanicsville Turnpike a few blocks away. Anyone with information can call the Richmond police tips line at (804) 514-TIPS (8477). Police Chief Bryan T. Norwood, dressed in casual clothes, visited the scene briefly shortly after the shooting but made no formal comment. Within an hour, about 20 police officers, detectives and forensics technicians had arrived. Residents of the neighborhood said it was the first homicide in the area in several years, but they added that the area is plagued by prostitution. |
