Commentary Editor Cordel Faulk noticed a memo from retired Rep. Tom Davis, the Republican from Virginia’s 11th District, examining the GOP’s dismal prospects this November.

Davis wrote: “The loss of three straight special elections, in once solidly Republican districts cannot be explained simply by ‘bad candidates’, or by being out-organized. They are canaries in the coal mine, warning of far greater losses in the fall, if steps are not taken to remedy the current climate.“

Climate change, as we’ve all been reminded, usually takes quite a while.

Michael Moore is making a sequel to “Fahrenheit 9/11.“

It’s a drop in the bucket, of course, but at least there will be one Hollywood movie with a liberal slant after so many decades of relentless right-wing propaganda from Tinseltown.

Hopefully, Moore’s pic will hit the nation’s theaters before the November elections. Just like the last one.

National Public Radio recently had a fun story based on a new collection of politicians’ quips and zingers.

This morning the hosts of “Morning Edition” read a letter from a lady asking why so few women’s bon mots were read during the original story. Didn’t female politicians ever get off some good lines?

The hosts said that a cursory search of the biographies of several female politicians didn’t turn up any.

Today’s pop quiz, then, is: Please give examples of stinging rejoinders and other witticisms from female politicians. Only extemporaneous remarks are allowed—lines from speeches don’t count.

To read a few examples from I’ll Be Sober in the Morning, click on the title of this post to go to the jump.
