Advisor PT closes
Louis Llovio

September 03, 2010 12:45 PM

After a bit more than a year, Advisor PT has closed its door.

The coaching and consulting firm for independent financial advisers shut down last week.

Stuart M. Porterfield, who was the founder and managing partner of the firm, said he decided to shut down the business because of an opportunity with the RiverFront Investment Group. He will be the company’s mid-Atlantic/Northeast regional director.

“The consulting business was going well and I was fired up about the future of Advisor PT. However, the opportunity to partner with RiverFront was too good to pass up,” he said.

Porterfield spent 15 years with Wachovia Securities, most recently as a national sales manager. When the firm moved its operations to St. Louis, he decided to stay in the area. He said part of his decision to move to RiverFront was to work with some former Wachovia Securities colleagues.

The Kroger Co. has begun construction on its ninth fuel station in the Richmond area.

The station will be in the parking lot of the grocer’s store at 4816 S. Laburnum Ave. The fuel center is scheduled to open in November.

Adding a station at the Laburnum store is part of Cincinnati-based Kroger’s $81.8 million expansion plan for the Richmond market.

The company is about halfway through the project, which includes adding stores, refurbishing existing stores and adding fuel stations.

The Laburnum store also will be remodeled this year.
